As companies strive to keep consumer interest and curiosity piqued amidst new innovations
constantly created over the years, the new idea that companies are trying their hand
at is AI. Artificial Intelligence seems to have limitless potential, and many tech companies are interested in implementing it into their products. From writing code for you to answering your questions with the best answer possible, AI appears to be the next big thing. Snapchat, a widely used messaging app, has released their own AI chatbot named “My AI”.
My AI (powered by ChatGPT) has a variety of tasks it can do for the user, from planning
trips to writing poems. The user can name the AI, as well as customise the chats wallpaper. And while initially only available as a premium feature, requiring a Snapchat Plus subscription, access to the AI now is free for everyone.

While it has a plethora of uses, it isn’t capable of doing everything however. Snapchats AI
can’t write thought provoking pieces, such as a blog post or an essay. On top of that, Snapchat has come out themselves to say that My Ai isn’t perfect and is quite prone to make mistakes. In their own words, the company has said that the AI is “prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything”. As an example to this, the co founder of Center for Humane Technology conducted an experiment to see if the AI would give a supposed 13 year old on how to set the mood for their first time having sex with a 31 year old.
All in all, My AI has a variety of uses and can be recommended to be played around with by the community. However, take this with a grain of salt; the bot is not omnipotent nor all-knowing. The conversations you have with it will be stored for 30 days (even if you delete them) within the Snapchat servers. The bot can be manipulated with to produce heinous answers through the questions and queries you give it. But if you just want a conversation to pass the time or a quick bit of advice on a recipe or a birthday gift, My AI is the perfect chatbot for you all while being as easily accessed as from your phone.
